Bajaj-KTM alliance launces Super bikes










Bajaj Auto and KTM Power Sports AG's two and a half year old coalition will result in the yielding of some intricate, high-end super bikes sometime around next year. Apart from selling KTM branded bikes in India, the second largest auto major of the country now has plans to collectively manufacture bikes for the benefit of both the companies and for this, it will be spending about Rs.140 crore this financial year in its R&D department.Till date, Bajaj has only 1 bike with an engine capacity of 220cc but it will soon be expanding with the launch of KTM's Duke 690, a 654 cc, four stroke engine bike and 1190 RC8 Superbike, a1148 cc bike in India by next year. Also in the pipeline is a joint venture by mid 2010 and Bajaj's 1st super bike with some help from KTM in 2011. This alliance has certainly benefited Bajaj. Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, MD, Bajaj Auto is on board of KTM with 31.72% stakes.
